Does anyone have a second fire alarm in their flat ? Not the one that was recently serviced . To cut a long story short, I’ve always had a second one but thought nothing of it till it started going off yesterday and thinking it needed new batteries I pulled it down only to find it was connected to the mains !
now it’s only a nine volt connection but would it be up to me to get a electrician to either fit a new one or isolate the cable ?

Thanks Geoff , if I have any issues I’ll be in touch
Hi Jim: The appropriate circuit "should" be marked on the Consumer Unit, if in doubt just turn the "mains" off for a few minutes. Worst case is that your Internet Router could take 2/3 Minutes to synchronize.
Hi Jim
As a retired Electrical Engineer I'd be happy to assist you or any resident for free, Each Apartment has a combined Heat Detector/Sounder connected to the building Fire Alarm System. In each Apartment there is also a Mains Powered Smoke Detector with Battery backup which should be on a dedicated circuit on your Consumer Unit. Normal remedy is to isolate the mains supply to your detector, replace the battery, and turn the mains supply back on. Slightest problem please let me know but do not go to the expense of calling someone in.
